How to use the Pallet Storage Cost Calculator

Pallet storage invoices depend on the contract billing basis and on more than the headline storage rate. This guide keeps storage, inbound, outbound, picking, fixed fees, adjustments, and tax configuration visible as separate steps.

Calculation method

Select the contractual billing basis

Use pallet-day when daily occupied quantities are the source of truth. Use average pallet-month, snapshot, or a custom opaque UOM only when the contract defines that basis. Partial-month divisors and minimum quantities must be explicit.

Add operational service charges

Inbound and outbound quantities multiply their own rates. Picking can use orders, order lines, and units as independent drivers. Disabled drivers contribute zero and should not be treated as active assumptions.

Apply the written adjustment order

The engine applies tier adjustment, discount, surcharge, and user-configured tax in the displayed order. It uses decimal money arithmetic and never fetches a foreign-exchange rate or decides which items are taxable.

Worked planning example

For 100 pallets over 30 billable days at 0.80 TRY per pallet-day, storage is 2,400 TRY. Add 50 inbound pallets at 10 TRY, 40 outbound pallets at 12 TRY, and 1,000 TRY fixed fees to produce a 4,380 TRY all-in result before any tax, discount, or surcharge.

What this result does not replace

This is a contract modelling tool. It does not supply market prices, tax advice, or automatic exchange rates.

Review the formula trace and the assumptions returned with each result. Project documents, supplier data, contracts, local rules, and qualified professional review take priority over a generic planning calculation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pallet-day and pallet-month billing?

Pallet-day billing totals the daily quantity used, while pallet-month billing follows the average, snapshot, minimum, and proration rules written into the contract.

Does the calculator include handling charges?

Yes. Inbound, outbound, order, line, unit, fixed, and other charges can be modelled separately.

Can I apply minimum quantities?

Yes. The billable quantity can be the greater of actual quantity and the contract minimum.

Does it calculate tax automatically for my country?

No. Taxable items and rates must be entered according to the applicable contract and professional advice.

Can I compare providers?

You can save or duplicate input scenarios and compare their all-in totals and unit costs without inserting market rates automatically.
