LD7 Pallet Dimensions: 88-inch PAJ Planning and Weight Limits

LD7 searches often mix an air pallet’s outside base with its usable cargo area. In CBM3, the 88-inch LD7 profile uses a protected planning envelope of 304 x 210 x 160 cm. The SWISS WorldCargo PAJ reference describes those usable dimensions; it does not make every PAG, PAJ or P1P configuration interchangeable.

Open the LD7 88-inch pallet planner to test your entered cargo quantity. Check the exact unit and operator permission before using this profile. The result is preliminary layout guidance, not approval to build or fly the ULD.

CBM3’s current LD7 evidence status remains partial: the software envelope and allowances must not be described as a manufacturer-certified full model. Its nominal catalogue volume is 10.3 m3, while the rectangular dimensions multiply to 10.2144 m3. Do not use either value as an automatic carton count.

Gross weight is not cargo payload

For a real build-up, reconcile the cargo, pallet, restraints and any other included materials against the applicable gross limit. The fixed 15 kg software allowance is not a measurement of the net or straps used in your shipment. If actual equipment or restraint masses differ, the displayed cargo allowance does not certify the load.

The aircraft position can impose a lower limit than a general equipment reference. Obtain the operator’s applicable mass, contour and loading instructions before release. Neither a weight check in CBM3 nor an estimated cargo centre of gravity replaces aircraft weight-and-balance calculations.

Recorded example: twenty-four cartons

A synthetic standard-engine test on 9 October 2026, Europe/Istanbul, used 24 cartons of 50 x 40 x 40 cm, 10 kg each, Horizontal Only and stacking permitted. CBM3 11.63.56 placed all 24 in one LD7 planning envelope, with 0 unplaced. Entered cargo totaled 1.92 m3 and 240 kg.

This verifies the recorded input quantity against the software model; it is not a maximum-capacity search. The illustration above is not that calculation result. The same small carton set also fits the narrower LD11 model, so this example alone is not a reason to select the larger ULD. Compare your actual mixed cargo and allowed equipment instead.

How to prepare an LD7 cargo plan

  1. Confirm that the booking permits the exact 88-inch pallet type and build-up envelope.
  2. Select the LD7 profile. Enter loose cargo or already packed transport units with their actual dimensions and gross unit masses.
  3. Do not add another pallet automatically. If a cargo unit already includes a skid, include it once in that unit’s measurements and mass.
  4. Keep Horizontal Only unless the particular loose item can travel on another face. Do not tip a loaded pallet or defeat This Side Up.
  5. Calculate, inspect placed and unplaced quantities, and review the orientation and support of every cargo group.
  6. Have the handler verify the physical build-up, mass, restraints and aircraft-position restrictions independently.

LD7, LD11 and 96-inch PMC are different choices

The SWISS LD11 guide uses a narrower protected cargo area. A 96-inch PMC profile is another equipment type again. Do not rename a row or use Custom Size to treat one profile as another. A booking’s ULD code, its permitted loading envelope and the actual assigned unit should agree.

Common questions

How many pallets fit on an LD7?

First distinguish the aircraft pallet from any wooden pallets or skids carried as cargo. For loaded units, enter their total outer dimensions and gross masses. A count based only on nominal wooden-pallet footprints omits overhang, height, support and restraint space.

Can the planner approve a netted load?

No. The model does not validate the capacity or condition of a net, attachment points, tension, aircraft restraints or handling procedures. Successful geometric placement is not a securing certificate.

How to inspect and hand over a loading plan

Use the selected plan and the complete shipment data. Recheck the result after changing cargo, equipment or handling rules.

See every cargo unit in context

Search the cargo inventory, focus on an item and switch between realistic, operational, top and side views. Inspect pallet layers and height sections.

The inventory separates requested units, units in the selected container, units in other containers and unplaced units. Select a row to find its cargo in the scene; playback and height sections show only part of the complete plan.

Use pallet details to inspect full, partial and mixed pallets. A height section filters the view; it does not remove cargo from the plan. Vehicle bodies and wheels provide visual context.

Prepare clearer warehouse instructions

Use product colors and short codes, named groups and delivery stops. Choose a summary or warehouse PDF for the selected plan.

Assign product colors and short codes to connect the cargo table, 3D view and reports. Group and stop names improve instructions; apply the appropriate loading rules when a sequence must be enforced.

Compare verified alternatives and review any manual moves. A manual reallocation affects the current preview and PDF; saved or shared inputs recalculate the automatic arrangement when reopened. Export again after changes.

Read the estimated center of gravity

Review longitudinal, lateral and height coordinates from known cargo and pallet masses. Check the displayed origin and units before comparing plans.

The estimate assumes each item's mass is centered and excludes vehicle tare. Missing or stale additional-material records can leave the complete-load assessment unavailable; explicitly declare none when no extra materials are present.

Coordinates use the load-space frame, not road height. For Step Deck, X starts at the raised front end and Y at the lower-deck datum; axle-form distances run from the rear toward the cab.

Distinguish the loading unit from its carrying vehicle

This loading unit alone does not define an axle configuration.

Inspect cargo and pallet weight distribution in this loading space. A container, swap body or air-cargo unit does not identify the road chassis, rail wagon or aircraft carrying it.

Axle estimates are available after selecting a supported complete road or rail vehicle. Enter its actual mounting positions, full empty reactions and applicable limits; do not reuse a trailer reference as container or aircraft approval.
